Dropword III – the InDesign script for creating whole-word dropcaps (essential for traditional Hebrew typography) has been updated to version 3.5.11. The new version includes the following fixes and features since the previously reported update, which was version 3.5.3:

  • Bug: If the first line of the paragraph already ends with a forced line break, a double dropword and forced line break was created. (3.5.4)
  • New: An option was added to prevent the creation of a gap (window) if the second line of a paragraph falls at the top of a column. (3.5.5)
  • Bug: Dropwords were not created correctly if paragraphs had a left indent in a left-to-right context, or a right indent in a right-to-left context. (3.5.6)
  • New: En and em spaces are now considered as ending the first word, i.e. word boundaries. They were previously considered to be a word character. (3.5.8)
  • Bug: In certain cases the dropword window was set incorrectly. This would happen in rare cases where adding a line break at the end of the first line of a paragraph caused the paragraph to jump to a previous column. (3.5.10)
  • Bug: In certain cases, when a dropword was applied to text in a cell a “Fixed Reference Error: Object is Invalid” error would be thrown. (3.5.11)
  • New: The checkmark next to selected paragraph styles in the UI has been removed. A solid black box alone now indicates which paragraph styles will have dropwords created. (3.5.11)
